The Week In Review

- I love Thursdays. Thursday is my "we've almost made it" day. There's still one more day until the weekend, so if I didn't get everything done that I wanted to do during the week, there's still one more day until Big Fun Daddy is home for 2 whole days of fun, fun, fun. If it's been a long week, there's only 1 more day until Big Fun Daddy is home for 2 whole days of fun, fun, fun. I always feel like I'm winning when it's Thursday.

- Running is still going great. My ankle/foot feels really good when I run, which is awesome. It continues to bother me in real life, though. Sigh. I feel it when I sleep on my side, or sit on the floor, or walk around a lot in fun summer shoes.

- Declan is growing like crazy. Can't believe we're almost at 4 months and 2/3 of the way to solid foods. It's so easy to just breastfeed, and I'm really lazy. I also can't believe we've had thrush for more than 13 weeks. I mean, really.

- On the bright side, I'm down 12 lbs in 7 weeks. I've now run my way out of 2 pairs of shorts, I'm off this weekend to get another smaller pair. YAY!, and CRAP!, all at the same time. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see the scale moving in that direction, I just wish I didn't have to spend my $$$ to buy a new pair of running shorts every couple of weeks. And the weird thing is, I now weigh less than I did before I got pregnant with Talia, but my shape has changed so much that not many of my pre-Talia clothes fit. Hrmph.

- M'girl is not growing like crazy, but turning into a big girl more and more everyday. She speaks in sentences all the time now. We've been really potty training for the last 3 days and she's doing great with it. We'll see if she keeps it up or if we have another potty strike on the horizon. This time her little friend at Daycare is also hittin' the pot, so maybe the 2 of them together will figure it out this time.

- Talia has fallen madly in love with Elmo. I have developed a huge hate for Elmo. Perhaps part of the problem is that we only watch the same 4 episodes that are currently on video on demand. I am so tired of learning about the Wild Wild West, Bathtime, Wild Animals, and Exercise. And that's only with letting her watch 1 or 2 episodes (14 minutes each) a day!

- My boss called today to talk about a couple of work situations. I love that she keeps me in the loop and calls me in from time to time when I'm on mat leave. A year is a long time to be out of the game, yo. It was fantastic to use my brain this afternoon for something other than "when was the last time Tally peed?" or "can I get away with not washing diapers for one more day?"

- We got my parents a new computer last weekend when we were home. Watch out world, Grampy & Grammie have been unleashed upon the "Interweb" once again.

- And for those of you who missed it on Facebook (Donni, I'm talking to you here) - here's Talia blowing bubbles:

My Little Cupcake

The secret to Talia keeping her new dress clean as a whistle?

Give her a snack she loves so much she won't drop a single crumb.

3 Months

Is it really possible that in 3 short months, Declan has gone from this little peanut:

to this big boy?

Or from this sleepy newborn:

to this little guy who is CLEARLY going to be full of mischief?

Declan is growing like crazy, already bigger than his sister was at 6 months. The one thing he does have in common with his sister is the feakishly small feet - the shoes he's wearing in this picture are like clown feet compared to his real feet, lol. Our 2 little babes keep us busy and we wouldn't trade it for anything. The days are flying by way too fast, it will only be a few months until we're looking back at these 3 month pictures and pining away for that tiny baby, I'm sure. Sigh.

Happy Mother's Day!

My little family is the greatest. I've been spoiled all weekend. On Friday night, Rainer brought home some beautiful, bright spring flowers. On Saturday, Talia decided they weren't quite right and took matters into her own hands:

They compliment the first flowers perfectly (and yes, they are in a WWF wrestling glass that I got at a garage sale for Cuncle Kenty to use when he comes to our house.)

Today we dressed up our little angels in their finest attire and headed off to brunch in Niverville.

So blessed to have these two babies (and their handsome Daddy!) xoxoxo

Happy Mother's Day to all you Mamas out there!

Fun Friday Updates

We're all glad it's Friday around here.

Declan has been a pretty chill guy since he was born, but this past week his personality is really starting to show. He thinks Mama is the BEST. THING. EVER. and laughs whenever I talk to him. Love it!!! He was 12 weeks this past Tuesday but if we're going by the date then he's not officially 3 months until next week, so I still have time to get the 3 month pics taken on time.

Talia has tooth #7 poking through. My regularly cheerful, happy, funny little girl had been replaced this week by a cranky toddler who gave people "the face" whenever they spoke to her. I fear #7 is just the beginning and over the next several days, they are all going to come in. While it will be nice when she actually has some teeth (seriously, she cries and cries to have some salad and then chokes on it everytime), I'm not looking forward to them all coming in at the same time. Although that might be better than each one making her miserable for an entire week, tooth by lousy tooth, until that cute little mouth is full. How many teeth should a 2 year old have, anyway?

I'm chugging along with my running, we're up to 4 &1s this week and it has been a really nice, gradual increase. I'm finding it easy compared to the first time I learned to run, and I like it more than I hate it. I really like getting to know people in town, and my new running friend has my same sense of humour, so we laugh through a lot of our runs together.

We have exactly 1 week to get our act together for Rainer and myself to have a hot date; Talia is going for a sleepover at Lisa's (! My baby girl is going for a sleepover! Eeeeep!) and Cuncle Kenty is going to watch The Goat while we go to dinner and a movie. The getting-our-act-together part is because we left our playpen in K-town the last time we were there, so we need to beg/borrow/steal one for Talia to sleep in - Cuncle has Landon's old one for Declan. And we also need to decide where to go for supper - it's such a rare occurence that we go out sans babies now! Who cares if they have highchairs? Who cares if the kid's menu is full of garbage? Wheeeee!!!!!

I'm trying to stick to Fly Lady's cleaning schedule. So far, so good. My front entrance/porch/dining room have never looked better. I find Fly Lady to be, ahem, a bit much. But I think she has a decent rotation for "zones" and she's completely correct that you can get a hot spot cleared of clutter or a bathroom cleaned in less than 15 minutes. And it's good to have some of her reminders about things, because I'm not gonna lie to you: if I can't see it, odds are I don't remember to clean it. The top of the fridge? Disgusting, I'm sure. Curtain rods? Please. The tops of pictures hanging on my walls? Not a chance. (Too bad the rest of the world isn't my height, instead of being tall people who can tell I'm a lazy housekeeper.)

This weekend is Mother's Day. I'm pretty sure I got hosed on the flowers I sent to the assorted Grandmas in our lives, but hey, what are you going to do? We appreciate them and wish we saw them more often. We're going for a fancy brunch on Sunday in Niverville. It is always delicious and I can't wait!!!! Happy Mother's Day to all the Mamas out there!
